Your UOSW account gives you access to sensitive data. This access can threaten the security, privacy, and trust of union members, workers, and the Union itself. Information and data should never be shared publicly and never be shared outside of the UOSW organization. Passwords are ONLY to be shared through the shared password manager. Sharing passwords directly is a massive risk that threatens access to all of our accounts and data. You are the first line of defense for our workers. Data leaks and security breaches can result in lawsuits, personal liability, and undermine our credibility with our workers. Worst of all, it puts the data of the workers we are trying to protect at risk. Please, do not take this access lightly, and if you don't know what to do, ask!
Once you have opened the Sign in link, Create a password. This password should be secure, but something that you remember. It is suggested that you use something with multiple words that you can remember. For example: Television-Drywall7-Home The biggest determining factor between a secure and insecure password is its length. Randomized passwords like a90I!2#v are not as secure as you might think.
Enroll in 2 factor Authentication(2FA). You have 1 week after creating your account to enroll in 2FA, but it is often easiest to do this right away. If you don't enroll in time, your account will be locked and you will have to request an extension from the administrator. Press Enroll and then choose how you would like to verify. You can use a Passkey with a password manager, Authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Duo, or a simple phone number that will text you to approve. Choose which method you would like to enable and then choose Enable 2-Factor.
If you will have access to the UOSW password manager this is a great place to store your account information! More on this later.
